Editor's Viewpoint: Sign up to save a life

As the Transplant Games continue in Belfast, it has been revealed that a campaign by this newspaper to increase the number of organ donors in the province has already struck gold. More than 500,000 people have now registered - an increase of 20,000 since the Belfast Telegraph's Sign Up, Save a Life drive was launched.

With almost 300 people in the country desperately waiting for a transplant there is no room for complacency and we continue to appeal to people to make a donor pledge.

The athletes competing in Belfast this week show the life-saving value of such a commitment.
