Editor's Viewpoint: Singing the praises of NI star performing for Pope

Editor's Viewpoint

Northern Ireland based singer Dana Masters is an appropriate choice to perform for Pope Francis on his visit to Croke Park next month. He is noted for his work among the poor and disenfranchised and her family two generations back were deeply involved in America's civil rights movement in the deep south. Dana's mother and aunt were among the first to integrate into white schools in their state.

Now she is an adopted daughter of Northern Ireland - her husband Andrew, a pastor, comes from here - and her singing career has taken off. Her style of singing is also appropriate for what is the biggest religious event since the last Papal visit - soul music.
