Editor's Viewpoint: Star's tragic death

The untimely death of the actress and singer Whitney Houston at 48 is another chapter in the triumphs and tragedies of so many superstars.

Whitney was blessed with a towering voice, good looks and the talent to achieve immense fame and fortune. In the good days, her version of Dolly Parton's 'I will always love you' became one of the greatest female hits of all time. Tragically she was diminished by her addictions and a seriously troubled domestic life. Nevertheless her memory will live on through her artistic achievements, and not least in the iconic movie 'The Bodyguard' with Kevin Costner for which she will be so fondly and sadly remembered.
