Editor's Viewpoint: Summer memories

There was an air of inevitability about it. As this newspaper prepares to publish the top 100 photographs of its One Summer's Day competition, capturing the province in all its glory, suddenly we are buffeted by galeforce winds from the tail end of Hurricane Katia, bringing fears of falling trees and damage to homes.

The best idea is to batten down the hatches and pick up a copy of our supplement which will transport you back to one glorious summer's day earlier this year. What better antidote to the storms outside?
