Editor's Viewpoint: Thailand cave rescue was nothing short of a miracle
The man who led the rescue of 12 young boys and their football coach who had been trapped more than a mile underground in caves in Thailand described it as "mission impossible". That was not an exaggeration, for there is no doubt that even those expert and very courageous divers who brought the boys out thought the chances of success were slim.
Everything seemed against them. The cave system was flooded in places and some of the boys were even unable to swim. It took a superhuman effort to get them all out and, while miracle is an often overused word, it is not hard to believe that a higher power gave a helping hand.
