Editor's Viewpoint: This dog's tale restores our faith in human nature
It is a story about the worst and best of humanity. Six years ago Norman the greyhound was found with horrific injuries, its ears hacked off to remove tattoos which would have identified its owners and beaten so badly about the head it suffered brain damage. But Norman was taken in by George Anderson, the chairman of a local animal sanctuary, and spent five years being loved.
George spent many hours nursing and consoling it when it took fits. Sadly, now Norman has died but he brought much joy to a family in the past six years and was much loved in return.
From a tale of shocking brutality came one which restored our faith in human nature.
