Editor's Viewpoint: Treat for music fans

The Clandeboye Festival, which begins tonight, will provide a week's showcase of music by outstanding young musicians as well as some of the world's best instrumentalists who will be performing and giving master classes.

An additional feature this year will be the appearance of the Oscar-nominated actor Stephen Rea who will give a poetry reading on Thursday evening.

The festival will also highlight the considerable talents of its founder Barry Douglas, hotfoot from the BBC Proms in London, and his Camerata ensemble. All of this adds up to a considerable treat for music-lovers at a time when the arts are undergoing financial strain, and the Clandeboye Festival deserves the full support of everyone.
