Editor's Viewpoint: Ubiquitous Elf on the Shelf is mischievous fun for kids
There is no end to invention when it comes to making a pound or two out of the festive season as the ubiquitous Elf on the Shelf proves. Santa's little spy - it makes sure children are being well behaved for Christmas and therefore deserving of presents - has gone from a US tradition to a global phenomenon.
At least it is largely a fun exercise at this time with parents coming up with more and more inventive ways of showing how the Elf is behaving mischievously in the home each night.
But parents who cannot afford the toy might be tempted to tell their kids their Elf didn't arrive because of new Brexit immigration rules.
