Editor's Viewpoint: Ulster answers call

Ulster's rugby team is showing that last season's Heineken Cup final appearance was no fluke with an unbeaten start to the new season. Admittedly there will be harder tests ahead in the coming weeks, yet the side is playing an enterprising and effective brand of rugby and its winning formula has led to a record representation on the Irish squad for the autumn internationals.

With 14 players called up, Ulster fans will be hoping for greater than usual numbers appearing in the national side for those internationals. At international level the team needs an infusion of new blood, or, at the very least, greater competition for places. Ulster can provide both.
