Editor's Viewpoint: Ulster's new man

Mark Anscombe is a name which would have been known to only the very best informed rugby fans in this part of the world until yesterday when he was appointed the new coach of the Ulster team.

By all accounts, he has forged an impressive CV in rugby-mad New Zealand, coaching the national U20 squad to win the Junior World Cup.

He is the man chosen to bring the Ulster team to the next level, building on the solid foundations laid by Brian McLaughlin. His task will be made easier by the arrival in the summer of Tommy Bowe, one of the world's best wingers. These are exciting times at Ravenhill - Ulster are still in the Heineken Cup - and fans will hope Mr Anscombe does make his mark.
