Editor's Viewpoint: Unlike Jose, May won't get £22m to cushion the blow
Theresa May and Jose Mourinho have both been subjected to fierce criticism and votes of confidence in recent weeks.
In their very different ways both could be said to have lost their respective dressing rooms, arousing divided loyalties from their teams. And both knew the game was up.
Mrs May has promised to stand down as PM before the next general election but Jose was given an unceremonious order to leave the Manchester United club yesterday morning. While the PM looks more and more harassed, Jose left with a broad smile on his face. The sack never feels as bad when you have compensation of £22.5m in your pocket.
