Editor's Viewpoint: Wonder of the deep

Dessie the Lobster is certainly a wonder of the deep. Reckoned to be 70 years old, he is a monster in crustacean terms, being over two feet long and eleven pounds in weight.

His sheer size stunned the local fisherman who caught him and probably saved Dessie from being plonked in a pot of boiling water.

Instead the venerable lobster will now be kept in a Galway aquarium. Surely that is more fitting for Dessie who somehow managed to dodge being caught for so many decades.

He deserves to be a star.
