Even the truth won't erase pain for tragic Alan's family

Editor's Viewpoint

The family of 21-year-old Newtownabbey man Alan Drennan still don't know the circumstances which led to his death in Ibiza a year ago today. What they do know is that it has left a huge void in their lives. His father and mother cry every day for their lost son. Such is their grief, they cannot even read about the injuries which he received before his death.

Friends allege that he was beaten up by Spanish police, and a body that specialises in investigating claims of police brutality may take up this case. The truth would give the family some closure, but nothing will ever bring back the beloved young man. That's what is really unbearable.
