Fitting tribute to Holocaust survivor with beautiful soul

Editor's Viewpoint

Northern Ireland owes Helen Lewis a great debt of gratitude, primarily for her work in inspiring generations of young dancers here, but also for detailing her experiences in Auschwitz concentration camp and reminding us all of the horrors of the Holocaust.

Fittingly, it will be on Holocaust Memorial Day that a blue plaque will be erected in memory of this remarkable woman, who narrowly escaped death at the Nazis' hands. She would be delighted that children from here will be able to avail of grants to visit Auschwitz and learn of the inhumanity that man is capable of inflicting. Thankfully Helen Lewis showed us the beauty that also exists in the human soul.
