Food industry in province has stepped up to the mark
Many of us can remember a time when finding a decent place to eat out in Northern Ireland was like searching for hen's teeth. But now we are spoilt for choice and our restaurants and food producers win the praise of their peers on a regular basis.
The latest Food and Wine Awards in Dublin saw three All-Ireland winners from this side of the border, with Belfast restaurant Ox again named the best in the land, cheesemaker Mike Thomson winning best producer, and critics John and Sally McKenna inaugurated into the Hall of Fame. The food and hospitality industry, vital to the local economy, has really stepped up to the mark.
