Happy days are here again as Beckett Festival returns

Editor's Viewpoint

There is good news from Fermanagh with the announcement of Happy Days: The 3rd International Beckett Festival taking place in and around Enniskillen from July 31 until August 10 this year.

A host of international experts and performers have been lined up, and there will be not one, but two productions of Beckett's classic Waiting For Godot.

The fact that there will be one in French and the other in Yiddish only serves to underline the international dimension of this festival, which honours one of Ulster's most distinguished sons.

It has been a considerable achievement for the organisers to find such an artistic niche and to use it so creatively to entertain such a wide range of people. Happy days indeed!
