Heartbreaking tale of losing a loved one so early in life

Editor's Viewpoint

It is difficult to imagine the horror Kate Devlin felt on that August night in 2015 when she awoke to find her 43-year-old husband, Paul, dead in bed beside here. She has shown remarkable courage in revealing that dreadful experience in an interview with this newspaper.

Life has not been easy since then bringing up three young girls. It is a task which has kept her so busy that she has not been able to grieve fully. She has got on with life but finds it difficult to get over the death which left such a void in the family. Now she is organising a picnic for a charity which helps those who have lost their partners early in life. Peer support can often be vital in easing the pain of the loss of a loved one.
