Hillsborough Castle revamp given royal seal of approval
It was fitting that Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall came to Northern Ireland yesterday to reopen the marvellously refurbished Hillsborough Castle, which is the Queen's official residence here and home to numerous Secretaries of State. After a £24m make-over the historic building was looking its regal best.
For once there were as many eyes on the castle as on the royal couple as guests craned to see the restored state rooms, walled garden and visitors' centre. Congratulations are due to all involved in this project, the fruits of which will be seen next week when the public will walk in the footsteps of royalty and historic figures such as Benjamin Franklin.
