Hurricane Fly remains favourite with racing fans

Editor's Viewpoint

Northern Ireland-owned hurdler, Hurricane Fly, may have failed in his Champion Hurdle bid, but he lost no friends in defeat.

Now a 10-year-old, the dual winner of the race showed he is still a top class performer and was beaten a relatively short distance into fourth in a very high class race.

It is usually two-legged sporting stars from here who make the headlines, but Hurricane Fly has shown over the years by his tremendous winning record that he is the equal of many of his illustrious predecessors in the jumping game. And it will take a brave man to bet against him the next time he runs back on home soil.

He remains a true equine hero in this part of the world.
