Inspiration to all

Bad news often makes the biggest headlines, but goodness abounds in this society even if it sometimes seems otherwise. Peter Branker is one example of an indomitable human being who puts aside his own immense health problems to work to alleviate the hardships suffered by others. As a teenager he lost an eye and a leg to cancer, but when he recovered he devoted countless hours to raising money for charity. In later life he gave up a highly paid job to work full-time helping others.

Peter has raised around £1m for charity, but his greatest gift is the inspiration he gives to others. He has deservedly been awarded a British Empire Medal for his charitable work, but no award can adequately sum up his good deeds.
