Breaking barriers: Conor Byrne and Katie Douglas have not let cerebral palsy hold them back

Katie Douglas and Conor Byrne, head girl and head boy at Fleming Fulton school in Belfast are a credit to themselves, their families and their school.

Both have cerebral palsy but that has not prevented them having ambition and setting out on a road to independence.

The school has played an enormous role in equipping them for adult life and giving them the confidence to face whatever challenges lie ahead.

They are an inspiration and should make many of us re-evaluate how we view those who have disabilities.

They have learned how to make the most of their talents, a lesson all of us could take on board.
