Ireland's resounding victory was the Best way to start
Captain Rory Best and his international rugby team-mates certainly answered 'Ireland's Call' with a thoroughly convincing win over Scotland in their first game of the World Cup in Japan yesterday.
Ireland are sometimes slow starters, but yesterday they were on the scoreboard almost immediately, and due to a powerful and skilful display they never looked like losing.
Now they must face each game as it comes, and nothing in sport can be taken from granted. What is certain is that Ulster players Iain Henderson, Jacob Stockdale and Best acquitted themselves superbly, and Rory dismissed some unfair criticism with an outstanding captain's display. It is also great that at a time of such uncertainty, international sport can rise above all the barriers, and as the World Cup progresses, Irish supporters from all over this island will also be helping the players to answer Ireland's Call in the best way possible.
