John Stewart Bell: Home town acclaim at last for this brilliant son of Belfast
It is encouraging to know that Belfast City Council is preparing to do a U-turn and to name a Belfast street after one of the city's most accomplished sons.
John Stewart Bell rose from humble beginnings to become one of the world's most distinguished scientists, and his Bell's Theorem famously amended some of the findings of the great Albert Einstein himself.
John Bell died before he could receive a Nobel Prize which he richly deserved, but his name will be perpetuated in John Bell Crescent at Titanic Quarter. Hopefully, the council's change of heart will also help us to learn more about such a great man.
