Let's toast those who will be working this Christmas

Editor's Viewpoint

For most of us Christmas Day is a family holiday with no thought of work to disturb the festivities.

However, for others it is "work as usual", and today we publish several interviews with those who are most definitely not on holiday.

They include a head chef, ferry operator, a health support worker, radio broadcaster and a Childline supervisor. There are many others too, including members of the security forces and medical staff.

These are the unsung heroes who are sometimes overlooked by others enjoying their work-free Christmas Day. We commend them all for putting duty, professionalism and the needs of others before their own, and wish them all a particularly Happy Christmas.
