Life led by tragic nun is an example many can follow
Sister Clare Crockett, the Londonderry woman killed when a building collapsed on her during an earthquake in Ecuador, was not the stereotypical image of a nun. As her sister recalls in this newspaper today, they used to skip Mass and Clare was a fun-loving young woman until finding her vocation.
But what she did in her short life and how she died trying to bring children to safety has inspired many people. One woman is fundraising to rebuild the school she worked in, and people visit her grave daily. That cannot erase her family's pain, but it does bring some consolation. Sister Clare was a remarkable young woman who deserves to be remembered.
