Lions can roar again if they follow Ireland's blueprint

Editor's Viewpoint

The Lions rugby squad can take little pride in their performances since landing in the spiritual home of the game, New Zealand. A narrow victory over a Barbarians team in their first match was followed by defeat in their second. And the best representative side in the country is now their next opponents.

Inevitably, it will take time for players from the four home nations to gel into a team capable of beating the world champions in the three test series for only the second time.

As Ireland showed in Chicago, the All Blacks are not invincible, and if the Lions can harness that same self-belief and skill, then their roar will be heard again.
