Lowering death toll from stillbirths must be a priority

The latest figures reveal the shocking statistic of two stillbirths a week in Northern Ireland, with all the heartbreak that this brings to couples and families.

In today's Belfast Telegraph Alanna and Simon Salter describe bravely and movingly how much they suffered when their first baby, Isobel Olivia, was stillborn nearly two years ago.

Steven Guy, local co-ordinator of a national charity, who lost his daughter Danielle to stillbirth nearly 24 years ago, has rightly called on politicians to support a campaign to lower the death toll from stillbirths and to support parents who face such tragedies and intense suffering.
