Lydia's selfless daughters are a credit to their brave mum
Mum Lydia Hayes must be extremely proud of her two young daughters. In recognition of her diagnosis of breast cancer, the two girls plan fundraising events for a charity conducting vital research into the disease. But it is the sterling efforts of seven-year-old Jessy which most captures the imagination.
She intends to swim a mile - an astonishing 64 lengths of the pool - in a bid to help her 13-year-old sister raise £1,000. The little girl deserves to see her hopes fulfilled.
It is a very ambitious project by one so young, but one who defines what charity really means.
