Maud has cultivated a very special life at the age of 110
Maud Nicholl from Ballymena has made her own headlines by celebrating her 110th birthday and becoming, by all accounts, the oldest person in Ireland. Maud is a most popular lady, with a good sense of humour and an ability to make - and, equally important, retain - friendships.
Due to advances in medicine and better living conditions, many people are living much longer, but it is indeed a special achievement to reach 110.
Maud believes her longevity is due to a mixture of gardening and faith in God. She certainly is a prime example of the old dictum: "You are nearer God's heart in a garden than anywhere else on Earth."
