Maud's inspirational work in Africa won't be forgotten

Editor's Viewpoint

Maud Kells' contribution to improving the lives of thousands of Congolese women over the past 50 years is remarkable.

The Northern Ireland woman, who was shot and almost killed in 2015 in the village where she helped provide a hospital, nursery and pharmacy, is now leaving the Democratic Republic of Congo for good, but it will be a long time before the memory of her good works are forgotten there.

A former winner of the Belfast Telegraph's Woman of the Year award, Maud is a living example of the Christian ethic of reaching out to the poorest among us and an inspiration to anyone wondering how to make the world a better place.
