Music to our ears
The people who run the pop music business are not known for their modesty.
So the suggestion that Belfast could be the new Seattle as a music capital should be regarded as promotional hyperbole. But that is not to underestimate the thriving rock music scene in the province which will see five local bands play alongside some of the world's most famous bands at the Reading and Leeds festivals later this month.
For its size, Northern Ireland punches well above its weight in the pop music business and it is encouraging that this is being recognised by influential movers and shakers in the industry. Local bands' success is sweet music to all our ears.
