New Dean of Belfast looks the right man for the job

Editor's Viewpoint

The Very Reverend Stephen Forde was installed yesterday as the 14th Dean of Belfast, and he follows in the footsteps of many previous incumbents who have given great service to Belfast and the wider community.

They include Dean John Mann, who left last year for a new position in England, and whose quiet but determined tenure made a significant mark in St Anne’s Cathedral after years of upheaval.

Mr Forde is comparatively young, gifted and enthusiastic, and he seems to be the right person to lead the cathedral members and the wider community at this stage of their journey. It is a big job for a big person, and we wish him well.
