NI chef's tribute to Gary Rhodes shows he had very few peers
The sudden death of chef Gary Rhodes has shocked many of his contemporaries and one of them, Niall McKenna, a highly respected Belfast restaurateur who trained under him, paid a generous tribute. It was no empty praise but a heartfelt expression of his sorrow at Gary's passing.
For Niall, the lessons he learned working in one of Gary's kitchens and watching him work enabled him to forge a highly successful career of his own in the hospitality industry. Not many of his standing will admit that he owes everything to Gary. There are many celebrity chefs today but few have been as inspirational to their peers as Gary.
