NI man who saved family in sea rescue is a true hero
The story of the Vietnamese people who fled from their native land is one of the most harrowing and yet uplifting stories of the past four decades.
Now Linh Thi Thuy Spearing, one of the refugees who settled in the UK, has been reunited with Healey Martin, the Co Tyrone boat captain who rescued her family from the South China Sea in 1979. Linh says they were "blessed" to be rescued by Mr Martin, who now lives in a nursing home in Dungannon, and it is inspiring to witness the enduring gratitude of those helpless people he rescued.
It is also uplifting to be reminded of the heart-warming stories that came from situations which at one stage were full of darkness and tragedy.
