Coronavirus is not only threatening our lives but also our ways of life and death. Nowhere is this more poignantly illustrated than in the restrictions imposed on funerals. We on this island find a wake for the departed something cathartic, an opportunity for friends, relatives, neighbours and the general community to offer support, talk about times past and reveal more about the departed then their family ever knew.

But the lack of a church funeral with prayers just said at the graveside - for cremations there is not even the comfort of accompanying the coffin to its final destination - makes it difficult to grieve in the usual manner or gain closure.
