Poster captures beauty and tranquillity of Glens of Antrim

Editor's Viewpoint

A railway poster depicting a tranquil Glens of Antrim scene as the perfect place to escape the horrors of the Second World War is expected to fetch over £1,000 at auction this week.

It is cheap at the price, as anyone who has ever gazed upon that scenic coastline at Cushendall overlooked by Lurig mountain will testify. In those far-off days of war it was an area at peace with itself and today that timeless quality still exists and more tourists than ever heed the exhortation to take the coast road through the Glens of Antrim. The area remains one of the chief attractions in the province, due almost entirely to its scenery and leisurely pace of life.
