Promise of animal magic as cathedral welcomes in pets
Given the central Christian belief that Jesus was born in a stable surrounded by animals, it is apt that this weekend St Anne's Cathedral in Belfast will be holding a special pets' service.
In a tongue-in-cheek invitation, pets are urged to bring their owners along - certainly a novel method of boosting the usual congregation.
Depending on the type of pets which turn up and how excited some may get, it is a moot point whether the service will be a blessing or not.
But contingency plans have been laid to ensure potential mishaps do not leave the church regulars holding their noses at the new intruders to Sunday worship.
