Punters hoping McCoy will rise to challenge one more time

Editor's Viewpoint

What a day for the Irish at Cheltenham with winners galore, but none for the jockey who is competing at this festival of championship jump racing for the last time.

The incomparable AP (Tony) McCoy is desperately hoping to sign off his incredible record-setting career with at least one win at the spiritual home of the sport.

He was well off the pace yesterday but racing fortunes can turn in an instant and with well over 4,000 winners under his saddle McCoy knows better than anyone how to get his mount in front. Irish punters love Cheltenham and they would love nothing more than to back another McCoy winner.
