Today we report the good news that the people living on Rathlin Island appear to have escaped from the virus, in an example of island isolation that really works.
There is a downside because their tourist industry will be hard hit, and that is hardly a surprise.
Yet the islanders are also seeing the positive side of life, including their older population surviving the crisis.
There are other significant benefits, including clearer skies and cleaner air, and also great benefits for the wildlife and wildflowers. The Rathlin people are obeying all the regulations and keeping the virus at bay. Never did island life seem so attractive.
