Ronan Kerr murder: A heartfelt but very simple message

The front page of today's Belfast Telegraph has been designed to express the feelings of the newspaper's readers.

Huge numbers have contacted the newspaper via its switchboard or online to express sympathy for the family of Constable Ronan Kerr.

The message has been heartfelt but very, very simple.

There's no going back to the dark days. For the sake of Ronan we continue to look to the future.

To coincide with the rally at Belfast City Hall at 1pm today and the show of support across the country for the Kerr family, this newspaper has printed a front page with a simple message.

Readers are welcome to show it at the rally or display it in any way they wish, as a token of appreciation for PC Kerr's ultimate sacrifice or as support for his colleagues in the PSNI.

Editor Mike Gilson said: “While today is a day of sadness it is also a day for the people of Northern Ireland to deliver their message to the terrorists that they cannot stop the province from moving forward.”
