Rowallane's new lion statues certain to take pride of place
For more than a century the two stone lions which stood at the entrance to Rowallane Garden in Saintfield were the pride of the National Trust until thieves stole them on Boxing Day last year.
Nothing has been seen or heard of them since, and their disappearance remains a mystery.
But the popular visitor attraction is to have its mane attractions restored next year when two new lion statues will be unveiled.
Hopefully, when they take pride of place, they will be more firmly embedded on their plinths to make any would-be poachers paws for thought before attempting to remove them.
