Royal baby news a welcome distraction, not least for PM
As a former actress Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, knows how to steal a scene and there has been some criticism that she and Prince Harry stole some of the limelight from Princess Eugenie's wedding by announcing Meghan is pregnant.
However, it would be churlish in the extreme not to join in the chorus of congratulations for the couple as they begin their 16-day tour of Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga.
One person who was delighted at the news was Prime Minister Theresa May, who found her Brexit woes upstaged, even if only momentarily. Will she still be in Number 10 when the new royal baby is born?
