Ruan's cycle a reminder of how much he will be missed

It is no surprise that rugby player Ruan Pienaar is to undertake a gruelling 90 kilometre cycle ride to raise £90,000 for the Tearfund charity which aids children at risk of trafficking.

This is another example of the generosity of spirit and concern for others that he has displayed throughout his seven years playing for Ulster.

In an era when so many sports stars display an unlikeable petulance or even arrogance, Pienaar simply continued to show that he is a world class talent and an equally classy human being.

He is leaving against his will and will be sorely missed by his team-mates and also by his legion of fans. France's gain is definitely our loss.
