Sadly socialite Tara never discovered true happiness

Editor's Viewpoint

Tara Palmer-Tomkinson was born with the proverbial silver spoon in her mouth. She seemingly had it all - wealth, acclaim and royal connections, yet she led a largely prodigal life, battling drug addiction and earning a reputation as a party girl.

She almost invented the modern celebrity status where people become famous for being famous and little else. And yet with all her advantages, it did not seem she ever found true happiness. Perhaps that is what drove her to experience some of the excesses in her life.

Although she was diagnosed with a brain tumour, her death at 45 was very sudden. Most of all, it is a real tragedy for her supportive family.
