Scout leader William (81) is a shining example to us all
Eighty one years young William Sholdis has dedicated his life to scouting, starting as a cub aged eight and now an assistant leader. At a time when it is difficult to get volunteers to work with young people he is a shining example of the impact that such work can have.
Scouting, he says, can have a very positive influence on young people's lives - he would never have had a holiday as a child but for the movement - and is a way of keeping them on the straight and narrow in a modern society.
In January William will be given an MBE for his service to scouting and there are few who are more deserving of such an honour.
