Selfless, life-saving act by donor an inspiration to all
At this time of year, when the emphasis is on purchasing presents for loved ones, it is appropriate that BBC NI sports presenter Stephen Watson has been given the greatest gift of all - a new lease of life.
Thanks to the selflessness of an anonymous donor Stephen has undergone a successful kidney transplant to replace the organ donated to him 30 years ago by his father.
Stephen has done much to publicise the world-class Belfast City Hospital transplant unit and the need for more donors.
It was during the making of a programme about its work that he discovered he needed a new kidney.
He is living proof of the miracle of transplantation.
