Stan and Ollie's return will bring much-needed laughs
In today's multimedia world where fame is so often fleeting, it is difficult to imagine the stature of Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy, two clowns of the silver screen whose fame still endures more than 60 years after their careers ended. They created box office records when they toured Belfast in their latter years and behaved impeccably for their fans, posing for pictures and signing autographs.
Modern screen comics still draw on Stan and Ollie's performances which had fans roaring with laughter in the packed cinemas of the time, and the new BAFTA-nominated film on the duo will woo new audiences. Certainly this part of the world could do with a few more laughs.
