Steven Davis' mother will be in his heart as he leads out Northern Ireland
As the excitement mounts in the run-up to Euro 2016 and Northern Ireland's first game on Sunday, there are also human stories that warm the heart.
One of these is the admission by Northern Ireland captain Steven Davis that the memory of his late mother will inspire him when leading the team in France. His mother, Laura, died of cancer in 2008 at the age of 52, just a month after becoming a grandmother.
Steven says that his mother was his biggest fan, and a huge influence on his career. It is not difficult to understand that whatever takes place on the pitch in France, Steven's mother will always remain close to his heart.
