It's hard to believe but the north coast resorts of Portrush and Portstewart are busier today than this time a year ago when The Open Golf Championship was held. The easing of lockdown restrictions has brought a welcome influx of visitors to the towns and they are keen to spend in whatever local establishments are open.

This can be seen as a vindication of the Executive's decision to kickstart the economy sooner than many expected, and traders in resorts may yet salvage something from what they anticipated would be a train wreck summer, financially speaking. It also shows how each of us spending in our local communities can help bring about recovery.
