Comedian Eddie Large was a Saturday night fixture on our television screens in the 1970s and 1980s along with partner Syd Little.
In an era of double acts Little And Large were among the most successful, but Eddie was plagued by ill health. He had to give up showbusiness because of heart problems, which required a transplant, and he later suffered a number of other issues.
It is sad that while being treated for heart failure in hospital he contracted coronavirus, an infection too strong for him to overcome. The number of tributes from fellow comics shows the esteem in which he was held even after his long absence from the stage.
